Andrew Stevenson
Andrew Stevenson is a Partner in the Insurance, Reinsurance and Professional Indemnity Groups.
Andy qualified as a solicitor in September 1999 with another City firm, into their (re)insurance team. From 2003 to 2006 he lived in New York and worked for a US law firm, focusing particularly on Professional Indemnity and Employment Practices Liability claims and coverage issues.
He joined Elborne Mitchell in June 2006, becoming a partner in September 2011. He has been involved in numerous complex and high-value insurance and reinsurance matters. See, for example, the Court of Appeal decisions in KNIC v Allianz Global Specialty & Corporate (2007) and KNIC v Allianz Global Specialty & Corporate (2008), and various national and international property damage/business interruption disputes.
Andy continues to act in numerous professional negligence disputes (involving a wide range of professionals eg solicitors, accountants, insurance brokers, architects, valuers and surveyors).
His work also includes GAFTA (Grain and Feed Trade Association) arbitrations, (see for example the recent Court of Appeal decision in Broda Agro Trade v Alfred C Toepfer International Gmbh (2010)).
In his spare time, Andy regularly risks serious injury as a cyclist and journeyman 5-a-side footballer and attempts to stem time's tide by pretending he's a superstar DJ (weddings, funerals, bar mitzvahs - no reasonable offer refused).
